THE INVITATION
It doesn't interest me what you do for a living.
I want to know what you ache for and if
you dare to dream of meeting your heart's longing.
It doesn't interest me how old you are.
I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool for love,
for your dreams, for the adventure of being alive.
It doesn't interest me what planets are squaring your moon.
I want to know if you have touched the center of your own sorrow,
if you have been opened by life's betrayals
or have become shriveled and closed from fear of further pain!
I want to know if you can sit with pain, mine or your own,
without moving to hide it or fade it or fix it.
I want to know if you can be with joy, mine or your own;
if you can dance with wildness
and let the ecstasy fill you to the tips of your fingers
and toes without cautioning us to be careful, be realistic,
or to remember the limitations of being human.
It doesn't interest me if the story you're telling me is true.
I want to know if you can disappoint another to be true to yourself;
if you can bear the accusation of betrayal and not betray your own soul.
I want to know if you can be faithful and therefore be trustworthy.
I want to know if you can see beauty even when it is not pretty every
day, and if you can source your life from God's presence.
I want to know if you can live with failure, yours and mine,
and still stand on the edge of a lake
and shout to the silver of the full moon, "Yes!"
It doesn't interest me to know where you live or own much money you
have. I want to know if you can get up after the night of grief
and despair, weary and bruised the bone,
and do what needs to be done for the children.
It doesn't interest me who you are, how you came to be here.
I want to know if you will stand in the center of the fire with me
and not shrink back.
It doesn't interest me where or what or with whom you have studied.
I want to know what sustains you from the inside when all else falls away.
I want to know if you can be alone with yourself,
and if you truly like the company you keep in the empty moments.

Welcome to Spirit Soars. I am Iris. This is one of my homes on the web. I am also the owner of Soul Journey and I invite you to visit that site as well. I built this site to 'connect' with like-minded people-- people, who like me, believe we are all one. We share this world and we share in the collective consciousness of it. We CAN create the kind of world we want to live in -- one of peace, love, cooperation, sharing and a reverence for life. Since our thoughts create our lives, we will achieve whatever it is we believe. I believe in love.
Here you will find inspirational writings, an e-greetings card shop, an add your link page and information on the major world religions. Spirit called me to build this site and include information on the world religions. It is my hope that through learning more about one another, we will come to a better understanding of the fact that we are really more similar than different and that the divine spark of life in me, is exactly the same divine spark of life which is in ALL LIVING THINGS. I am happy to have your ideas as well. Since the site is just getting built, please visit often to watch as it grows.
I welcome your comments & feedback. Please email me. I also encourage you to send me your writings-- in tribute of your loved ones who have passed on. I have put a memorial garden on the site. You can submit your writings right at that page. I have also added pages for your poems and stories which you can email me in either the body of the email or as a 'word' attachment. I will post them and email you when they are uploaded.
Perhaps you are interested in some of the webrings I belong to. You can check them out at the webrings page. There is also a page of causes I try to support; these are things I'd like to see an end to in my lifetime. And if by chance you feel my site is worthy of an award, I have added a special page to display them on. Thank you for visiting. I hope you will find something which informs or inspires you. I hope you will find something which touches your heart. Please visit often. I have put my love into these pages to send out to everyone who crosses my path......... Peace to all who enter here.
~~ Namaste~~ Blessings, Iris
